After deciding where you will be traveling to, you need to decide what you will do once you get to your destination. One of the things my husband and I do is research. Now I know some of you are saying you research as well, but hear me out. We do not only research but we dig deep into the area, so we know what is out there and available.
When we booked our Alaskan cruise, I made sure we booked it so that we had time to cross off another bucket list item by incorporating 3 days in Seattle. We watched YouTube videos on everything. Others' opinions and experiences, where they visited and saw to help solidify where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see in each town. From there we explored the ship we were going to be on and how people felt about it.
We talked about balcony versus no balcony, the time of year that was best, what we should expect to see and the weather during the time we were going. Also, make sure you have what you need. Camera, GoPro, winter clothes, rain gear, winter boots. The research will tell you what you need and may even give you suggestions on items others found helpful and you didn't think about.
After a year of researching, we had the most fun-filled vacation. We accomplished many things we had on my bucket list, conquered a fear of heights, saw a baseball game on a new field, and really experienced a new world. I have loved our life as cruisers, but our Alaskan/Seattle holiday has been, by far, my favorite.
