Price versus space

When looking at picking a room, there are so many variables. Many cruise lines are similar when talking about room types. All prices are based on the demand of the cruise.

The inside cabin is usually the cheapest and best on a budget but can be on the smaller side. These are good for those who cannot handle seeing the ocean while traveling as well as short trips, solo or younger travelers, or those who won't be spending any time in the cabins.
Ocean view cabins can be a little more expensive, depending, again on demand. These are rooms that have a little bit more square footage, a small window, or a virtual window to allow you the best of both worlds. These cabins are good for solo, couples, and families with very small children and give a little more space for kids' playtime.

Balcony cabins are another step up from the inside or ocean-view rooms. Again, a little more expensive, most times, depending on the demand. These cabins aremy favorite because I enjoy eating breakfast on the balcony on warmer mornings, reading at the table with a glass of wine or iced tea and just catching a great sunrise/sunset. When we traveled to Alaska, it was bitterly cold outside but I bundled up quite nicely and sat out to see what I could find in nature. The size of a balcony cabin is even bigger by a few square feet than an Ocean view but not by much. The square footage usually includes the balcony.
Royal Caribbean has what's called a Suite class. If paying for the suites, usually the cabins are much more expensive but come with several nice amenities depending on what suite you choose. Read more about the Crown and Anchor loyalty club  in my last blog "Benefits of Being Loyal"

Let's start with the cheapest of the Suite class, the Jr. Suite. The Jr has more space, a bigger balcony, and limited amenities due to not being a "real suite" I am not sure why they call it a suite other than it is more expensive than the balcony (depends on demand) and it is bigger. Because of the suite word in the title, you receive a double crown and anchor points.

Next is the Grand suite, Owner's suite, Aqua suite, and the list could go on based on ship. Smaller ships do not have all that the bigger ships have to offer.

The last is the Royal Suite. Those in the Royal suite pay quite a bit of money for the room but the amenities are amazing. A personal "genie" who makes all your reservations, full drink package, wi-fi included, free room service, a piano in the room and it is about the size of 2 1/2 regular cabins.

I have stayed in many of these rooms and to be honest, my favorite is the one I am staying in whenever I cruise. Inside, ocean view, balcony, it doesn't matter. I love cruising and the room only makes or breaks the vacation if you let it.
