We didn't have a great experience with transportation in St. Maarten a year or so ago, so I was very leery of taking the offered shuttle when we made it to La Palma. We decided to walk it. Boy did I pay for it later! It was a 25-minute walk into town with Cobble stone streets, uphill in some areas, and hot! I got sunburned because I didn't know that the sun was the same on the islands as it is in the Caribbean. Again, do your research if you don't know! Do not be like me!
Most stores and restaurants don't open until late, 10am or so, not many kid stores to shop for grand littles, and shops close at 2pm for a siesta for 2 hours. We did find the Navel Museum. Not something that I went to LA Palma for but whatever. We found a restaurant and decided to stop. Chris ordered an espresso and a goat cheese appetizer. Since I drink coffee my coffee with creamer and those in Spain do not, I opted for a Coca-Cola and he told me it was "light" with no sugar. We didn't realize so much food would come out of goat cheese!! The cheese was very creamy, very light but so good!!
We walked around and checked our surroundings out but many stores and such were closed, getting ready to close or there was so much construction in the area, I didn't want to go down the street. So we opted to go back to the ship. Beautiful area, a beautiful town, not much would draw me back to visit again.
